1939//45 KGV Six volume collection of WWII censored covers, a total of 212 items representing an amazing assemblage of markings, many scarce or rare, earliest and latest known dates, unique items, a wide range of origins and destinations, town and slogan cancellations, rates and frankings. Volume I 1939//43 With rare 1939 incoming from England cancelled PAQUEBOT and bearing both H11 oval hs and L1B label, the EKD; 1939 large oval type HI hs in red plus L1 label to Switzerland and same incoming from Brazil; 1940 incoming with small oval hs type II and L1e label plus Lady Boat hs with name of ship excised for wartime security; a similar cover to Port of Spain bearing additional Trinidad censor hs; 1941 censor hs type III, believed to be the only recorded example; brown label with no text or label, EKD, rare; 1943 ms I/11, possibly unique; 1943 very rare local censorship. Volume II 1940//45 Includes a range of label with L IVa (11 different numbers), 2 covers with scarce brown paper label, one tied with Censor hs 23, EKD and LKD, incoming from Colombia, flown and registered; destinations include Johannesburg, Aruba (several including registered), Barbados, Havana, Argentina. Volume III 1941 Officially opened and resealed label and hs H V various numbers; includes incoming from Chile and England, the latter to Dutch West Indies and redirected to Georgetown via St. Kitts. Volume IV 1941//44 all with handstamps and labels displaying a range of types and rates. Includes EKD, “Officially” misspelled (2), L111a; destinations primarily to the US but also St. Michael, Barbados, Canada, England, Buenos Aires, scarce local usage, transit censors from Madeira, Demerara and Trinidad. Volume V 1942//44 with very scarce H VI (6), L11a (3); destinations include Aruba, St. Vincent, Cuba, incoming from Argentina and Brazil. Volume VI 1943//44 highlighted by 1943 cover to Canada with LIVe without number and unrecorded as such, same label with meter franking totaling $1; incoming from Aruba, Paramirabo, Kingston, Brazil; destinations include Barbados (3), one redirected back to Georgetown, Australia, Scotland, NZ, St. Kitts. An amazing opportunity to acquire quite possibly the finest and most comprehensive study ever formed. Many scarce and rare usages, interesting and exotic destinations. Includes KGV ps envelope uprated with KGVI 6¢ definitive and sent locally by Express mail (rare); a similar cover but with KGVI ps envelope cancelled BENAB; 4¢ envelope uprated and sent to Massachusetts (2); 1¢ postal stationery card first printing uprated with 2¢ definitive short paid to NY with “T” in circle and US 2¢ postage due affixed, very rare; similar card to London with censor hs flown via NY; 4¢ registered letter envelope uprated, cancelled BIGG and used internally; 6¢ registered letter envelope also used internally, another uprated and sent to Canada; a similar item uprated and hs TOO LATE. An exceptional holding. Most F-VF.
