Contents state that he has obtained possession of the island of Barbuda and that Meech was appointed Governor. Also discusses sale of slaves. Fair Bishop's mark of July 21 on reverse. 1780 SFL to Sir William Codrington, London, headed Antigua Sep 1st 1780 and bearing F-VF s/l ANTIGUA hs, Robson Lowe type PD1, one of only 2 recorded examples of this marking. Bishop's marks of 13/NO and 14/NO all on reverse. This is the only letter from Peter Halloran, a mason, in the Codrington correspondence. Contents express the writer's displeasure at being fired by Robert Clarke and notes that work being done on Betty's Hope Estate is unnecessary. F-VF. (PHOTO)

Contents discuss boating accident "when a gust of wind struck her she filled instantly and went down in sixteen feet water. I had ten men with me, four of which could not swim and we were a mile and a half from the shore..."
